Gettin rid of spam windows messages

  • Hi all,

while surfing from my home pc (and not using linux), I am receiving lots of I guess some kind of net send messages from lots of beautiful girls who just want to meet me.

How can I stop those messages?

Is there a good and cheap (best would be free for personal use) firewall solution for windows?

    Cheers,

    Frank

  • ZoneAlarm works quite well as far as the free version www.zonealarm.com but you are saying net send messages. Just turn off Alerter and set to Manual should fix that if I remember correctly.

  • Best one I have found so far is Tiny Personal Firewall. It's free.

Cheers,CrispinI can't die, there are too many people who still have to meet me!It's not a bug, SQL just misunderstood me!

  • Thanks, I will evaluate both.

    I've found a list on http://www.homenethelp.com/web/howto/free-firewall.asp .

Any comments on a product called agnitum outpost?

  • Frank,

First off, have you actually tried to meet some of these ladies? Maybe it's worth your while?

    Have a look at http://grc.com/intro.htm"> http://grc.com/intro.htm

See the Shields Up and Test My Shields.

There was a time when there were two woman con artists standing on the side of the road asking for petrol money. The traffic report said "Two good looking read heads..." Traffic actually got worse as people (Self included) used the mentioned route just to see.

  • Alerter is a Service in Windows 2000 and I believe XP but don't have a machine installed readily available.
