Hit a big problem with setting up a replication

    Is there any way to have a simple replication running (one DB to another, same server), over night, where such wonders of scripting as 'select * from ... insert into...' will not die?

    Another way of looking at it is, is there a flavour of replication that doesn't involve adding an extra column to tables?

    Transactional replication does not invovle adding an extra column to your table

    Transactional. OK.

    I'll have a read up of that.

    Perfect in theory, but Transaction only works on tables with indexes, which is why the GUID column is added by force to the merge type.

    OK, so I'll have to script a DTS restore instead.
