Hi experts
currently we have below setup on windows server box
windows server 2008R2 Enterpise edition &
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1600.1 (X64) Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
we are planning to install/apply SP2 of Named Instance of production sqlserver.
Please provided some check list or steps.

The current Service Pack for SQL Server 2008 R2 is SP3:

Steps:
1) Download SP binaries
2) Apply in test environment
3) Test applications
4) Apply in production
If it is a clustered instance, apply on the passive nodes first and the active node as last.
The Service Pack setup is just as easy as "next/next/next". You'll be asked which instances to patch, nothing more.
