How to RELEASE connections in SQL Server 2000

  • In evaluating the performance of my SQL Server, I discovered over 100 connections, most of which show a status of SLEEPING. Quite a number of those appear to be un-released connections from some time ago. How can I release them from Query Analyzer or Enterprise Manager?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • kill spid

  • Thank you, Mark, for the response to my question. I am unsure, though, how or where to run KILL SPID. Can you further point me in the right direction.

    THANKS again.

  • The connections are not active and, therefor, nothing you really need to worry about.
