  Are there any special procedures for adding an index to replicated table?  I know there are spedific procedures when adding a new field to a replicated table but I can't find anything on adding an index.

  Not exaclty.

  But you can run sp_addscriptexec to push the creation of the index to all your subscribers, ro also regenerate the snapshot.

  Check in BOL for parameters.
