Is table partitioning available in azure sql server?

  • Hi There

can we implement the vertical table partitioning in azure sql server ?

Please share me the links to learn.

  • Horizontal partitioning is just having multiple tables each storing part of the data with a view 'merging' them.

  • You can, but it's not at all the same partitioning mechanisms available in the earthed product. Here's some sample code on how to set it up from Microsoft. Here's a discussion on things to take into consideration from Microsoft. It's a non-trivial problem, but, SQL Database is actually designed around doing this sort of thing.
