Link server using OLE or SQL Native ?

    Does anyone know if there is a performance difference or any other significant factor between creating a linked server from a SQL Server 2005 server to a SQL Server 2000 server using OLE versus SQL Native client as the provider? What does/can the provider type affect?

    Thank you in advance for any insight into this question.

    well i have had several linked queries than ran much fast in sql 2000 then in sql 2005. Several queries to seconds in 2000 and minutes to an hour longs in sql 2005. One had to do with text fields and the other i believe had to do with the way locking in handle in sql2005
