Linked Server Question

    I tried to setup a linked server to an Oracle 7 server. I installed the Oracle 7.2.2.0 client, EM and QA on a workstation but couldn't connect to the linked server.

    If you wish to setup a linked server for an Oracle server does the Oracle client need to be installed on the SQL Server box or can it be installed only on a workstation?

    You have to install Oracle client in SQL Server machine and ensure the SQL Server box is able to access Oracle database just like any your Oracle workstation.
