Linking Access 2007 to SQL Server 2005

  • Greetings,

I have SQL Server 2005 installed on a Proliant server.

My workstation is running Vista Ultimate, and Office 2007

    professional.

I am following the article to link Access to the database I have

already created in SQL Server. I have defined keys in the tables

    of the database.

I have successfully create a ODBC connection and test fine. When I

try to link, the tables shown to me are things like INFORMATION_SCHEMA.*

and sys.* (where the stars are actually objects).

I do not see my database tables. I have given the user permissions, so I don't know what I have missed.

    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, I'm sorta a newbie myself but have had success connecting 2007 to a SQL 2005 db. When you created the Access application, did you choose the ".adp" extension for your project or did you choose ".accdb"? I believe it does make a difference. When you choose the .adp, you will have a choice of attaching it to an existing SQL db.

    Hope this helps.

    M.
