log shipping standby db connections

    on a log shipping standby database, I needed to restore the db, but I see sleeping connections from the application. The db is in standby, read only mode. Do I even have to ask the app team regarding connections, or because its only in read only mode, can I go ahead, kill connections and restore db, reinitialize log shipping?

    As far as I know there is no reporting being done.. so I was not sure, what could be the purpose of the app connection.. Also, I was going to kill connections, just wanted to make sure.

    As you connections are in sleeping state. you can kill the connection before restoring it. A connection lifetime is depends on the connection string when it served and application calls connection.close().
