Please help me.Wat does it mean an idle CPU?

  • If you open Enterprise manager then open your sql server, then go to management, then right click on SQL Server Agent and select properties. On the properties page, click on the advanced tab. Toward the bottom is an idle CPU condition.

It sounds like there are some jobs set to execute when the CPU is idle, but there have not been any parameters setup in the above to define idle.

    According to Books on Line

How to set CPU idle time and duration (Enterprise Manager)

To set CPU idle time and duration

    1. Expand a server group, and then expand a server.
    2. Expand Management, right-click SQL Server Agent, and then click Properties.
    3. Click the Advanced tab, and then select the The computer is idle when check box.
    4. Under Idle CPU condition, do the following:

      • Specify the percentage that the average CPU usage must remain below (across all CPUs).
      • Specify the duration in seconds before the computer is considered idle.
