Merge Targets

  • 92% of wrong answers so far 😉 I think something went wrong with the today's Question of the Day edition.

  • This isn't a mistake. It's Steve's subtle way of getting us to write more questions:

😀 Who else thinks Steve should lose 1000 points for that one?

LOL, probably should. Apparently I can't figure out which box to check.

  • I do, in fact, understand the MERGE statement, but for some reason checked the wrong box when I was picking the answer. The question and answer are on different tabs and I must have been multi-tasking poorly.

The answer has been corrected and points awarded back.

  • Thanks for the post, SJ, nice one.

(I have read all the posts, and I see it; and I also wondered by seeing the score stats... what went wrong - see attached)

The first and the hardest SQL statement I have wrote- "select * from customers" - and I was happy and felt smart.

Well, I hope Steve corrects the issue and awards points back.

I thought I lost my sanity there for a moment 🙂

What little you had left?? :hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

Good! But now we want 10 extra points 🙂

You're a good man Steve. Thanks for all you do with the site and QOTD.

  • Thanks for the good question, Steve. I'm glad I didn't answer too early and lose my mind when my correct answer was marked as incorrect, like a lot of other people apparently did!

I don't think you should lose 1000 points for this mistake; only a few. :hehe:

Don't let this deter you from continuing to educate us on the MERGE statement. It's a complex subject that a lot of people don't completely understand.

I'm curious about the percentages, though. It states that 99% gave the correct answer and 1% gave the incorrect answer, but it also states that 74% chose SalesAdjustments, 14% chose Sales (the real, true, correct answer), 8% chose Both, and 4% chose Neither. If the latter numbers are correct, shouldn't the summary indicate 14% gave the correct answer and 86% gave the incorrect answer? Is this mismatch due to your fixing the "correct" answer and awarding points back?

Sure made me question but not necessarily did it urge me to write one:-P

    😎

  • Recently I have used the MERGE statement and answering made it simple.

    C'mon, give us a good one. 😛

  • Thanks for returning point.
