monitoring tool

  • Hi,

We are looking for a monitoring tool which monitors SQL Server databases and webservers.

We have 2 prod servers and 5 webservers, we would like to monitor DB backups failures,CPU,utilization, response time, appln connectivity stuff like that. If you have any idea on 3rd party tools, please let me know.

  • For the databases - try SQL Stripes.

  • If you are looking to monitor the SQL Agent, give SQL Agent Insight a try. You can find it at http://www.brentec.ca. It will give a good overall picture job status' along with alerting via email if core metrics deviate from configured thresholds.

    Regards.

  • RedGate has recently announced V2 of their Monitor product. It does quite nicely I think.

If you want something more high-end I highly recommend SQL Sentry's Performance Advisor product.

  • We use DIAB from DIABSqlSoftware.com. It will handle all the SQL stuff, sorry no Web monitoring but at the low price of DIAB you could get a separate tool for monitoring the Web.
