What is the best way to bring a database from msde2000 into sql express?
I have tried various things, but no avail, eg putting the mdf and ldf files onto the new server with express installed then try and "attach" them, but i get an error saying the two files are read only or have read only files?
Any help would be very much appreciated....

When you check the file properties on said mdf and ldf files, are they marked read-only?

Found the problem...
I was logged onto sql express with sql authentication - logging onto it with windows authentication solved the problem...
