Named pipes

  • Hi All,

A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online.

Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [5].

I have 2 servers. On one server SSAS is installed on second server SQL Server DB is installed. I saw the above message from SSAS server when it is trying to connect to second Database server.

TCP/IP port is enabled in Database server but named pipes are disabled. When TCP/IP port is enabled why it is not connecting through the TCP? Why it is showing the error Named pipes provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [5]
