Myself have about 3 years Teradata experience, and SAS of about 6 months, but of about 15 years ago. Of what I remember of SAS, is that what ever you know about the rest of the programming world, forget it and just learn the way in which SAS does it.
As for Teradata, a very nice product but I've only worked on the older vesions, so no nice GUI's or anything really like it. Worked mostly with BTEQ scripts, but I tell you this is now, this is not a transactional system but when it comes to data warehousing, this is the 1 to go for. Speed wise this is really the king!
I think if you like learning, you will really enjoy this enviroment as it going to be channeling but very rewarding as well. Good luck
