Netbackup and 2008R2

    Has anyone had any experience using netbackup with the R2 release?

    And then again, I might be wrong ...

    Hi Dave, we have just started using NetBackup with SQL 2008 R2. So far we have had no issues! The only problem I have experienced has been creating the appropriate bch files for a sql cluster with 2 named instances. I am fairly new to NetBackup so thus far I have been quite "challenged"!!

    Is this Windows 2008 64 bit also? Which version of Netbackup? We are having some issues with Netbackup and 64 bit SQL 2008...

    Good Morning David,

    Yes, Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. We had to upgrade NetBackup master server from 6.5 to 7.0 as version 6.5 will NOT work with windows 2008. Of course, we had to upgrade the client on the 2008 servers.

    One note, we did not have to upgrade the NetBackup clients on other servers that have Windows 2003 Enterprise. After the master server upgrade, the backups (both Windows & db's) ran normally.

    We are running 6.5.5 and still having issues- I will mention this to the server admin team...
