Newbie Replication attempt - getting "strange" error

  • Have SQL Server 2003 setup with 3 local instances of SQL Server 2000 (one default, two named) plus one named MSDE instance.  Trying to setup replication on one of SQL instances.  All are using Windows security exclusively.  Have tried default and named instances going through the wizard.  I try setting them up as their own distributors, assign the snapshot directory to a shared folder.

I get through to the end (Completing the Configure Puslishing and Distribution Wizard) screen, but a dialog box pops up stating:

"SQL Server Enterprise Manager could not configure 'RCLARKE-01' as the Distributor for 'RCLARKE-01'.

Error 14114: '(null)' is not configured as a Distributor."

Haven't been able to figure out where to go from here.  What am I missing?

    Thanks for any insights,

  • Never mind!  Should have done search of forum first.  Found previous post with reply for fix.   Thanks!
