ODBC Driver list blown away

  • I was showing a colleague the install for client connectivity from cd of sql200 but cancelled the installation. It was then that I noticed some strange things happening.

Now I have ONLY the SQL Native Client odbc driver installed (SQL Beta I believe ?). Oracle, Crystal, Intersystems, ad nauseum - gone, and Enterprise Manager/ QA etc etc arent working properly.

I consistently get the error "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"

I have tried MDAC 2.8, which does nothing, re-run the installer for Yukon choosing connectivity options only, which does heaps but results in nothing happening

This is on a Windows 2K workstation which once was my friend....

I really don't want to lose the best part of a week rebuilding my pc...

    help.

The systems fine with no users loggged in. Can we keep it that way ?br>

  • Well David, if you go to a machine that has similar or the same drivers and export the ODBCINST reg entry from HKLM/SOFTWARE/ODBC, and then import that into your broken registry, you probably be able to see and use the drivers again.

Why thankyou David, that worked !

    Hey David, no problem.

    Cheers,

Talking to yourself is the only guaranteed way to get the right answer

Far away is close at hand in the images of elsewhere.
