OP SY UPGRDE - Does SQL need to be reinstalled?

  • If upgrading from W2K Server to Advanced Server does SQL Server need to be reinstalled if it was installed on separate drive just for it?

Would it be possible to edit the registry instead of reinstalling?

  • Are you going to have two installations on the server at the same time i.e. Windows 2000 on C drive and 2000 Advanced server on D drive ? If yes than i don't think there is a way to move the SQL Server binaries around. You can only move around the database files.

  • Just one installation - Advanced Server on C. The SQL binaries are currently on E.
