Pass-Through Authentication and Log Shipping

  • I know that pass-through authentication works with replication but will it work with log shipping since that seems to need direct access to the disk system? I have 2 servers in non-trusted domains that I need to set up as production and DR. I would prefer to use log shipping for the sake of simplicity and the fact that the DR won't be accessed unless it has to be brought "up".

  • Pass through authentication is used often when accessing shares. An easy test is to set up a share on one server and then try to access the share from the other using a test account. It should work without issue is username/password matches up between domains.
