perfmon counter to find out if database is offline

  • One of the customers took a database offline in one of the sql server 2005 instances and wanted to findout if we get an alert or not through the monitoring tool which is capable of being configured for all the parameters which are available in perfmon.

Do we have a performance object which can tell us when the database goes offline?

Check status of the database on sysdatabases... details here: http://qa.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic583990-146-1.aspx

If the Database is already offline, it’s too late for setting up an alert. However it would be good to setup an alert on it in future alerts.
