Problems enabling Full Text search

    MSG 7635 Level 16 State 1 Procedure sp_fulltext_database

    The Microsoft Search Service cannot be administered

    SQL Server V 8.00.910

    Does anyone know if there are any issues with enabling Full Text Search at the version level?   This is toughy... Everything works fine on a lower version.  To the best of my knowledge the security and permissions are identical between the two.

    One other thing I am not sure of is that the dirve\directory on the server that fails is a cluster resource...

    You haven't removed builtin/administrators have you?

    I didn't, but someone else did some time ago.   On a couple of servers I just added the account back (builtin\admin) and it worked again.  On other servers it's hosed.   Even opened a call with MS and not getting far with their directions.

     

    This is a frustrating one...but I can uninstall the search service blindfolded now
