QOD 8-4-2003 Disagree with answer...

Antares, I think you just tested the limit of the text column we have to store posts :).

This certainly qualifies as the longest post

However, one question hasn't satisfyingly been answered.

Is there an 'ultimate' way to see which version of BOL I have?

I mean apart from looking at the starting page and the title bar, is there somewhere some version information or stuff like that?

    Cheers,

    Frank

Getting Started -> MS SQL Server 2000 Copyright and Disclaimer mine says

    "Version 8.00.000"

Does anyone else say someting different?

Actually I didn't think it was going to be that long and tried to remove some empty space.

But as the version no there isn't except if the title bar states Updated then you are not running the install copy. I actually have all from 7 and 2000 but cannot put my finger on the clean install copy or the SP2 copy. I do believe there is a total size difference. SP3 final is 39.7 MB for 2000.

    good for us

actually I think the above version number is a good indicator. Unfortunately I didn't find the most current version number on M$ website.

They state its version 1 according to

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=683D71A6-BCF4-45A6-A2E2-F6AB5BE3EF12&displaylang=en

    Any better place to search?

    Cheers,

  • Mine also says:

    Version: 8.00.002

And I have SP3 for BOL loaded. The title bar says SQL Server Books Online (Updated - SP3).

    -SQLBill

  • I just upgraded my BOL to the new SP3 version.

Prior to upgrading the title bar was "SQL Server Books Online" and the version indication on the Getting Started --> Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Copyright and Disclaimer page was "Version: 8.00.000"

Now the title bar is "SQL Server Books Online (Updated - SP3)" and the version is "8.00.002"

Hope this helps anyone else suffering the same confusion I was.

It should also be noted that my BOL now correctly indicates that the TABLE data type cannot be used as a parameter for a stored procedure.

    Scott

  • Man don't I look stupid

I could have sworn I updated my workstation with the BOL update but I guess I forgot to do that. I updated the server but not my machine. I just ran the update...

    Now my version says "8.00.002"

And the reference earlier to the original question of the table usage for parameter says

"any of the Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 data types, except the table data type "

So that answers that question in my mind.

    Ross

  • So, now that's everything ok again, do you have some american aquivalent for :

    'Peace, Joy and eggcake' ?

    Cheers,

If I could figure out how Peace and Joy fit with eggcake I could answer.

don't try to think about the meaning, it's just a word by word translation.

Means something like 'Love, peace and understanding'

  • I understand. I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Being of scandanavian descent and being from Fargo, ND we would say something like

    "Yah, You Betcha"
