Removing SQL 7

  • I have inherited 2 (interface) servers that use SQL Server connectivity and tools only - no DBs. They were upgraded from SQL 7 to 2000, but now both servers have both versions. I have been asked to remove the SQL 7 files.

Is it possible to just remove SQL 7 without affecting SQL 2000?

Can this be done from the Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs?

Do I have to uninstall both and re-install 2000?

I would prefer a method where I do not have to hack the registry.

This is at a hospital, so users are always in the system - so I need to have as little downtime as possible? Any suggestions?

Thanx in advance for your help.

  • You should be fine by removing the 7.0 version from control panel but it is always to be good if you could test it.
