RepServ Log choking my C:\ drive

  • The reporting services logs <<C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\LogFiles>>  are filling up my C:\ drive.  I've edited the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\ReportingServicesService.exe.config file, setting "DefaultTraceSwitch" to 2, (Exceptions, restarts, warnings) to try to limit the log output and changed "KeepFilesForDays" to 1.

Is there any way to move the location of the reporting services log files?  Someplace like the drive holding my SQL Server Logs?

  • This was a problem with the original release of reporting services. Applying service pack 1 fixed it for me.

  • Thanks Phil, we have Sp1 applied but I did find some more info on the problem, this hotfix applies to RptSrv Sp1:

FIX: The Reporting Services trace log file size may increase unexpectedly
