Restore failed due to insufficiant space

    HI

    Restore failed due to insufficiant space on drive, Actually database TestA existing on server A,

    Need to restore TestA From another copy from Server B , Restore copy size is 5 GB.available free

    space on restore destination drive is 7 gb, when i try to restore it gives error need free space on drive

    would be 16 GB , why that much space is needed to restore operation , any suggestions are good.

    Back up copy actually compressed by four times to original size . so that is the reason i could not restore.on 7 gb space

    the .bak file is generally compressed one,

    the original size of database is the .mdf size..

    so the .bak file size would be 5 gb

    but the .mdf file would be 15 or 20gb which

    would be less space for that drive
