Restricting MSDTC Service security

    I've been asked to modify the setup of our MSDTC services to run under a Windows account instead of the LocalSystem context.  The purpose being to have the Windows account setup with minimal access grants on the server on which it is running.  Anyone have an idea of what is needed here?

    Be careful of what version of Windows Server you are running. If it is 2003, there is a requirement for running the MSDTC Service under a local account - something like NetworkService, IIRC.

    On windows 2000, it is just as simple as changing the service account in the Services applet.
