Role Member lists are different

    When I go to the role properties screen in Enterprise manager for my 2000 box, it shows a smaller list of members than when I use the Management Studio Database Role Properties screen.

    The results in EM are the same as the results from running sp_helprolemember. 

    Does anyone know why the properties dialog in MgmtStudio would show additional role memberships?

    Jason,

    Are any roles members of the role that you're looking at?  I've noticed that SSMS expands the members of a role that is a member of another role while EM doesn't.  It just shows the role as a member.

    I double checked, and you are exactly right.  EM shows only the first child level, but SSMS expands it out. 

    I never would have even thought of that.  Thanks for the tip.
