Scripting SP2 & Cumulative hotfix (build 3152)

  • Does anyone know whether it's possible to script the unattended installation of SP2 and the subsequent cumulative hotfix (build 3152) to all 8 named instances on our 2005 Standard Edition server?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Be sure to make backups of _ALL_ databases !!

    With sp1 you could use

    SQLServer2005SP1-KB913090-x86-ENU.exe /quiet /allinstances

The same can be done for sp2.

Check SQL2005SP2_SETUP_sqlhotfix.chm. The parameters are described.

You can apply the HF using the same parameters

    check out sqlserver2005-kb933097-x86-enu.exe /?

  • Thanks for your help, ALZDBA.  I didn't wait for the parameters to be returned by the executable and assumed it was ploughing straight into the installation!

    Cheers.
