I am looking to set the default database locations on our sql servers to make it easier to roll out new databases through scripts.
Do you need to stop and start the SQLSERVERSERVICE for this change to take effect?
Thanks in advance
Carl

AFAIK, this information is stored in the registry, so it takes effect immediately. There should be no need to restart the server.

Cheers Frank,
I have read that it sets a registry setting but wasn't sure whether a top and restart was necessary.
