SP3 install for SQL Server but which version????????

  • i downloaded a SP3 for SQL Server and works fine for 32 bit system. Now i want to apply SP3 for SQL Server 2005 on windows server 2003 x64 Standard Edition platforms. and i also want to install SP3 for SQL Server 2005 on windows 2003 x64 Enterprise Edition. so i went to download page:-

    and i see three downloads and was confused which one should i download for the above showed configuration:-

    File Name: File Size

    SQLServer2005SP3-KB955706-IA64-ENU.exe 432.4 MB Download

    SQLServer2005SP3-KB955706-x64-ENU.exe 377.4 MB Download

  • as far as i think i have to download

    the second one

    SQLServer2005SP3-KB955706-x64-ENU.exe

    but making sure because this is on a prod.

  • Yep you have the right one, the X64 is a bit of a give away, if you had the wrong version , you wouldnt be able to apply it anyways,

  • IA64 is for the Itanium 64Bit processor class.

    X64 is for the Other sets.

    From what you listed as installed, you should use the X64 version.
