SQL 2000 SP4 network packet size

  I notice that when you do an upgrade of sql 2000 to sp4 that the netwrok packet size is changed from

  old MAXIMUM: 65536 to a new MAXIMUM: 32767

  Does any one know why this has been done and does this have any adverse affects on performance. I am getting complaints from end users since patching.

  What is your network packet size set to.  Did you have it at the max.
