SQL 2014 Cluster Setup on VMware

  • VMware ESXi 6.5
    Windows 2012 R2 Cluster Servers
    SQL 2014 Enterprise

My Windows Server Clusters validation ran with just two warnings
    1. MPIO warnings   Test Disk 0 usesMicrosoft Multipath I/O (MPIO).  (this will be fixed after I get iSCSI Setup on my ESXI host waiting on more nics)
    2. Windows updates missing from both nodes.
    No errors.
I added Luns from my Seagate NAS device on both cluster nodes and they have the same drive letter on both.

Next I start the installation of my first SQL Cluster server and then I get the following warnings

    Questions.

    1. Is it safe to continue?
    2. The DNS warning all settings are the same on both clusters I can ping FQDN from both not sure why this is a warning
    3. The firewall one I always ignore that one I know my firewall Is setup correctly.
    4.  The last one Microsoft cluster service warning is my concern.

    Thank you

    Tom

  • I see many read this.

No one with any thoughts on this?

I went ahead and ran the installation on my Cluster server and have successfully done failover of my sql database
No to move the remainder over.

Was still wondering why the warnings

    Any one with comments ?

    Thank you,

  • Havent came across the DNS warning but the Firewall warning is so common.  If you are going for a named instance installation by default it uses dynamic port and that might be reason for this warning.
