SQL Backups in AWS not on RDS

    I am doing native SQL backups on a windows 2012 server to an S3 bucket. The full's (40gb) never make it from the cache drive to the S3 bucket. What am i doing wrong

    You said not on RDS. So does that mean you're using an EC2 SQL Server Windows instance?

    Native SQL Server Backups don't support S3 -- Native backups have to go to file system drive, which in EC2 generally means a local SSD (ephemeral) or EBS drive.

    What mechanism are you using to transfer backups to S3?

    It is an EC2 windows server. So I'll change my backups to go to the EBS drive and then copy them to the S3. Thanks for clearing that up.
