SQL Server 2005 Service Accounts

  • Ben,

I haven't done enough cluster work and don't have a good environment in which to test a proper cluster with AD dependencies, etc. So I didn't expand on it for that reason.

I'd welcome someone else writing something up on cluster accounts, however.

  • Excellent article ....:)

  • I like the way this is set up. The Baseline Security analyzer gets it wrong with the folder permissions. I started cleaning things up based on the BSL but now I ma moving back in a test environment. Quick question...

I added a domain user account into the SQLServer2005MSSQLUser$InstanceName group. If I log in under that user, or under the service account user that is also a member of that group, it does not appear to have the same rights as a sysadm. Am I seeing this correctly?

    Thank you.

  • How to determine the access for the SQL Server serivce account in a cluster instance.

In a cluster instace, these groups are not created. Incase i want to restict the SQL Server service account to least previleges in a cluster environment, how can i do this.

    Please help.
