Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - BSCS Degree or concentration in a technical field - Three years of direct experience as a MS-SQL Server DBA/SA supporting globally-accessed applications - A mastery of MS-SQL Server stored procedures and at least three years of relevant experience - Five or more years of database design/architecture experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment - Three or more years database administration operations experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment - Expert in physical data modeling and documentation - Expert knowledge of Transact SQL - Expert in strategies and approaches for physical database design, performance optimization, clustering, and database replication - Knowledge of the .NET platform and services oriented architecture is preferred - A deep understanding of SQL Server as both a DBA and developer - Data modeling, query design and optimization, stored procedures - Demonstrated relationship management skills - Ability to perform code and design reviews - Promote/migrate SQL-Server objects from development to production instances - Meet with management to ensure satisfaction with the data collection, presentation, and other efforts - Knowledge related to computer hardware including networks and storage devices (SANS) - Ability to understand large data models quickly - Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook - Understanding of the options available to support High Availability within the MS Technology - Stack Ability to work with and provide technical leadership to other team members The DBA will work closely with development teams and be responsible for physical database design and implementation as well as performance tuning and assisting writing complex stored procedures. The DBA will work closely with application architects to design and implement system interfaces for in house and vendor systems. The qualified person will be expected to enhance database backup and restore procedures, monitoring procedures, database development and deployment standards, and other database related areas as needed. The DBA will also evaluate new technologies. |
