Hi Everyone,
Our production SQL Server has 8GB RAM, we have noticed that the Server is consistently using 7.80GB. The CPU & harddisk activity is low and the network activity is high.
It this something we should be concerned about? Or is it just normal SQL Server behaviour using all available memory for optimised performance?
Many thanks for your advice.

Hi David,
Totally normal, data is loaded into memory and served from there as it's much quicker.
It's generally good practice to set the max server memory setting to a reasonable setting depending on what else is installed - I'd say 5-6GB for an 8GB server.
See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms178067(v=sql.105).aspx
and https://www.simple-talk.com/books/sql-books/troubleshooting-sql-server-a-guide-for-the-accidental-dba/ Chapter 4.
Cheers

No problem. If you have the time, that whole book's worth a read 🙂
