SQL Standard Edition on SQL Enterprise Edition

    Hi all,

    I have Window 2003 Server with SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition. I now need to install an SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on the same machine as an Named Instance. Is this possible ..???

    Requesting to let me know asap. Also pls let me know if replication can be done on the named instance servers..??

    You don't want to go mixing editions on the same windows installation; indeed I would expect the SQL setup to fail if you tried to do this.

    Simply run your SQL Enterprise setup again and install a new instance along side your existing one.

    Yes, you can replicate between your instances.

    Ok.....but when i try to create a new publication on a named instance it says could not connect to the instance Server1\Instance1. Is there any setting that iam missing...???
