SQL Transaction Replication to DMZ

  • Guys,

Is there any standard procedure to setup SQL 2008 Transaction to DMZ - like what prots are recommended, should sql borwser need to be turned off on SQL Instance in

    DMZ etc.

    Any suggestions/inputs would help.

    Thanks

  • The replication uses port 1433 to communicate. This is the default port that SQL Server communicates with the client. But if you want to connect to the SQL Server on the DMZ using SSMS from your publisher or distributor for setting it up, then you have to open 1434 UDP port. Once it is set up you can close the UDP port. Here is link from MS that shows the details of Firewall configuration.
