Tempdb Size

    Has anyone experienced the tempdb growing at an alarming rate using all the available space on the HD. The tempdb on the SQL7 server we run grew to over 20Gb in around 2 hours.

    There were no large queries running, neither were the processors maxing out. Was this a glitch, or maybe a bug/virus. The logs don't show any unusual activity.

    Run select * from sysobjects where xtype = 'U' in TempDB to see any temp tables created and sp_spaceused to find out the temp table's size if there are any.
