Time Zone issue

  • Hmm. So I post at 7:00 a.m. my time and am told I posted around noon, according to the "Posted" date on my thread / post. I've noticed this for a while, but finally went to my account to try and set my local time. But I can't find a place to set my time zone so I can see, relative to my real clock, what time I actually posted stuff.

What time zone is the site using anyway? Where ever it is, it seems to be at least 5 hours ahead of me.

Will we ever able able to change our personal time zones so we can see more realistic times on the posts we view?

  • +5 Hours would be GMT during Eastern Standard Time. Right now it should be +4 until the November stoppage of Daylight Savings Time.

  • Brandie,

You can change the Time zone setting of your login in the following way :-

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) http://qa.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/EditForumSettings.aspx

    2) Choose Date & Time Options

    3) Choose Time Zone: from drop down list provided according to your convient time.

    This should solve your issue.

  • Oddly enough, when I was searching yesterday, I could not find the "Forum Settings" Box no matter where I searched on my account or in Control Panel. Yet, today, there it is, right where I thought it should have been yesterday.

I wonder what was going on that I couldn't see it yesterday...

Thanks, guys. I appreciate your help.

  • I'm in the UK (GMT currently, no daylight savings time) it's 11:45am (approx) yet the date time option says...

"All times are GMT, Time is now 12:45pm"!

  • I'm betting it'll be fixed on Sunday. @=) That's when DST ends here in the States.

Of course, the site could be bugging a bit on its DST patch fix. Maybe it thought last week was DST end? I know at my office we had to put in a second patch to fix the last part of DST...

  • British Summer Time ended last Sunday (28th October) and so now we're back to GMT. However, the time of this post shows up as BST.

  • The forum code probably doesn't account for the differences in the US. The server is on US time (MDT currently), so it will switch this weekend.
