user for SQL agent needs belog to SQLServer2005SQLAgentUser$.... ?

  • Hello guys,

I would like to use a specific user for the SQLAgent.

I have created the user under Active directory, this user must belong to the group:

    SQLServer2005SQLAgentUser$SQL......

    or it is not needed?

or only changing the user to run the service SQL agent is enough?

    Thank for your reply

  • Hi,

If you use SQL Server Configuration Manager to change service account (which is recommended way to change it) you don't need to grant any permissions. In other case (changing service account using Services Administrative add-in) there are registry and folders permissions that have to be set: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283811.
