Which connection type is best for dtsConfig file.

  • Hi all,

Which Configuration type would be better to use for dtsConfig file in SQL2K5.

From an administrative point of view, I believe it is SQL Server type because the config files can be backed up along with the dtsx packages during the daily msdb database backup.

    Other than this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks

    John

  • IF we think aboout security and unauthrized restriction then "windows authentication" would be better.

I work only to learn Sql Server...though my company pays me for getting their stuff done;-)

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the confusion.

My question would be like below:

We have the following configuratuion types in SSIS for configuring the Package Configuration:

    1. XML Configuration.

    2. Environment Varable

    3. Registry Entry

    4. Parent Package variable.

    5. SQl Server.

Which of the above would be the best approach to have considering the administrative perspective.

    Mainly for backup purposes.

I know 'SQL server' type is good as the config file (.dtsconfig)can be backed up along with msdb database.

    Thanks

    John
