windows update

    I would like to check with other DBAs, how do you do windows update on your SQL servers?

    How often you do it, is it a scheduled automatic update or DBA manually do it on each SQL server?

    or is it handled by network admins?

    And how about SQL server service pack? do you do the same time as you do other windows update?

    It usually depends on the size of the organization. I've been places where sysadmins do monthly windows updates and DBA's do SQL service packs only. I've also been places where the DBA does both. SQL 2014+ MS is recommending we stay on top of applying the CUs.
