You could use Textcopy? I created a stored proc a while ago that called textcopy thru xp_cmdshell. Then I write a VB app that matched the image file...

You don`t need to reinstal, well, as close as dammnit. You need to remove your user databases, get all the data out, then use a util called Rebuildm.exe which rebuilds...

But they open ok thru anythng but a direct proxy connection to that server. So I don`t think it`s the internals of the packages that are a problem.

It could be the format of the columns in excel. Not sure how it does it but it might read the column datatype to be able to translate it....

Thx for the input, I`ll try it this way first. I`d like to upgrade but the Server is the backend database of an old system that can`t be upgraded!!
