jsut remember to make sure you select the correct primary key when you link the tables (or views). and if you do change the tables then you need to refresh your linked tables .

I've not done this via SQL before, but whenever I try and run things like exe's or cmd's etc remotely I use PSEXEC.EXE.You can find the full compliment of 'PS' tools here:http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pstools.shtmlThis works because it copies itself to the remote PC to execute from there, thus independent of your SQL Server.Hopefully PSEXEC will do your […]

Won't this still give me the same problems in the initials/forename field.  So I end up with something like: MREGFordMrTrevor Peacock.

Sorry for beeing a pain here, but where is the information stored about system that you mention?Write down either the structure of the two tables, or those tables that are involved in the query, as well as some sample data from the tables.
