Yes, this was it.  I found it after stepping through in debug.  I had a field name misspelled in my lookup table so it could not be found.Thank you for responding.

Have you noticed that when you write an ActiveX DLL, passing values ByRef is faster than ByVal, but when you write an ActiveX EXE the opposite is true?

RE: TempDB operations faster?

SQL doesn't has to recovery tempdb when restarted, so it doesn't need to log everything in the log file as much as in a user db. So write operations should be faster.

Dear friend Let me know one thing, are you trying for client side cursors or disconnected record sets. In that case I better suggest the use of DB library and ODBC API.But an ADO like implementation is not child’s play I think With regards John
