Sometimes logging onto a box for a simple change like this is not possible for the business. This allows you to change this directly from T-SQL without having to log on or RDP into the box.

I dont think you want a trigger - that could be an extremely long running transaction. A better/simpler approach is to save the changes in a separate table, once you get the approval, run the final update.
