I wouldn't say that. There's still a week of voting and the down votes make changes happen quick. Someone can vote up another guy and vote me down and the switch is 2 points in that direction. This one, really doesn't matter, but I'm with Hudson, I like winning, it's better than losing.

It looks like they've removed the ability to down-vote, making a much better competition. I don't see any articles that warrant a negative vote.

I think that's my fault. I beat them up a bit publicly on twitter. But now I'm behind. Still need support people.

I'm not going to say which ones but there are some really ignorant posts with some bad assumptions and bad test code that jump to some really bad conclusions that I wish I could vote down. And, no, none of those are Grant's or Gail's.

  • Just wanted to give an update. Things are much better now. It did not rain much. The sky is still totally covered with cloud. Still raining but not like day before yesterday. The worst is over. There are some concerns about two dams in two areas. They are weak. Nothing can be done now other than pray for those living near that area. (Reminds me of something that happened in US) I dont live near that area. So we are safe from that.

This Hurricane killed 12 people in St.Lucia, compared to that we fared very well.

And once again Thanks for all the well wishes. Appreciate it very much.

Sorry, I thought you knew. It's not exactly been a secret.

    You're on my bucket list.

I took a break from all conferences and writing for a year to focus on my thesis. It's kinda worked, still a lot to do though.

Glad to hear you're okay, Roy.

I have some friends of mine that live in BVI and haven't heard from them for a while. I hope everything's fine there.

Hope the updates continue to be good.

Floods are not fun to deal with.

Are you talking about the dam in Iowa that let go this year?

Only about 200 miles from that.

But there were plenty of other floods this year.

I'm praying you see some sunny skies soon.

Glad you and yours are OK. I hope those dams hold up. If they break, it'll literally wash people's lives away.

I'm not suggesting anyone to cheat, but the voting system relies on browser cookies to determine if a vote was placed... :Whistling:

and I have 2 computers and 3 VMs. No, I haven't, it would be unethical.

Just sent out a beg on twitter too. I think we can put you over the top if we keep pushing. I'd just like to win my category but this David Dye guy (never heard of him before and he's an MVP) is doing really well.

You know you should never reference your opponant by name. Never say "Dye", Grant!

Agreed - It was nice of them to remove the down-vote.

  • Gail - do you know anything about SS2008's DBCC CHECKDB adding in checks for sys.parameters?

I just upgraded a server from 2005. Ran DBCC CHECKDB on all databases prior, and it's clean. After upgrading to 2008, ran again (also used the WITH DATA_PURITY option), and it found a bunch of objects in sys.parameters not in sys.objects. I was able to clean it up, but I found this curious.

    Thanks,
